Description
No. 17 Hylton Road is a late 17th-century house that stands two storeys tall and features five windows on the first floor, with two windows in altered positions on the ground floor. It has a high-pitched tiled roof, which is topped by a large central chimney with three shafts and is adorned with plastered coving at the eaves. The house includes two later gabled dormers. The front is made of painted brick and has a string course at the first-floor level. The sash windows have glazing bars and are set in flush, moulded frames. The entrance features a recessed early 19th-century six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight that has margin lights and remnants of a heavy, alternating block surround. A later tiled pent hood covers the door. There is also an early 19th-century eastern extension that has a lower roofline.
