Description

This is a milepost from the early 19th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular section and stands about 3 feet high, featuring a pointed arched top and a curving top panel. The east side is inscribed with 'CHAPEL EN LE FRITH 2 MILES', while the west side displays the distances to Sheffield (20 miles), Hathersage (10 miles), and Castleton (4 miles). It is located 230 metres from the Rushup Lane junction on the south side of Sheffield Road in Chapel-en-le-Frith.
