Description

This is a 19th-century milepost located approximately 90 metres west of the driveway to Swinglee Ford. Made by Brayshaw and Booth from Liversedge, it is constructed from cast iron and fixed to a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "SHEFFIELD & GLOSSOP / ROAD / MOORWOOD." On the left side, it indicates "SHEFFIELD / 6 MILES," while the right side shows "MANCHESTER / 32 MILES / GLOSSOP / 18¼ MILES."
