Description
This is a 19th-century milepost located approximately 20 metres east of the junction with Park Drive in Stocksbridge, along Manchester Road. It was made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. The milepost is constructed from cast iron and is fixed to a gritstone pillar. It features angled sides beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel indicates "WADSLEY LANGSETT / & / SHEFFIELD / ROAD / GREEN." The left side displays the distances to Huddersfield (16½ miles) and Holmfirth (11 miles), while the right side shows the distance to Sheffield (10 miles).
