Description
This is a 19th-century milepost located opposite No. 220, approximately 200 metres north-west of the junction with Haywood Lane in Stocksbridge. It was made by Brayshaw and Booth from Liversedge and is constructed from cast iron, fixed onto a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "WADSLEY LANGSETT / & / SHEFFIELD / ROAD BOLSTERSTONE." The left panel indicates "HUDDERSFIELD / 17½ MILES / HOLMFIRTH / 12 MILES," while the right panel shows "SHEFFIELD / 9 MILES."
