Description
The inscribed standing stone located on Andrew's Edge in Saltersford dates back to 1742. It is a tall, narrow block made of roughly dressed gritstone. The west face features a deeply cut inscription reading "RAO 1742," which stands for Richard and Ann Oakes. Below this, there is a faint graffito that reads "EL 1766," referring to Edward Lomas.
This stone is situated in a field known as Green Booth Pasture, part of a series of upland enclosures, each designated for an individual farm. The Oakes family resided at Green Booth Farm.
