Inscribed standing stone: dated 1742. Tall, narrow roughly dressed gritstone block. The top of the west face has a deeply cut RAO 1742 (for Richard and Ann Oakes). Below is a faint graffito reading EL 1766 (for Edward Lomas).

The stone stands in a field known as Green Booth Pasture, one of a series of upland enclosures, each assigned to an individual farm. The Oakes lived at Green Booth Farm.
