Description

This is a milestone dating from the late 18th century, located 15 metres north of Stoney Ley Lodge on the west side of Ashbourne Road (B5056) in the parish of Stanton in the Peak. The milestone is made of painted stone and stands approximately 2 feet high. It has splayed sides and a saddleback top. The north side is inscribed with "TO ASHBOURNE 13 MILES," while the south side reads "TO BAKEWELL 4 MILES."
