Description
The milestone, located 120 meters southeast of Alton Lodge, is situated on the former Ashby to Leicester turnpike road and is likely from the 18th century, with a cast-iron plate added in the 19th century.
Made of stone, the milestone features a stone slab with a rounded top and a cast-iron plate. The plate is painted black, with raised lettering in white that reads: TO ASHBY DELAZOUCH 3 TO LEICESTER 14. Additionally, a triangulation benchmark is inscribed on the face of the milestone below the plate.
