Description
Ravenstone Hall is a country house built around 1750, featuring Flemish bond brickwork with stone dressings and a hipped slate roof. The main structure is a three-storey central block with five bays, flanked by pavilions added in 1844-1845, which are oriented at right angles to the main front. The central bay is highlighted by giant stone pilasters in the Corinthian order and a pediment, with additional giant stone pilasters at the corners. The building has a stone plinth and a cornice, with decorative elements on the central bay. There is a stone sill course at the first floor level, and a porch with plain piers and a pediment leading to double entrance doors. The 12-light sash windows have moulded stone surrounds. The central bay on the first floor features a rounded-headed window with a traceried fanlight and moulded jambs with capitals. The side pavilions each have a single window on the front, while the sides contain three bays, with a central doorway and channelled voussoir stone heads above the sash windows. The interior of the hall largely dates from the 19th century.
