Description

SK29SE BRADFIELD TINKER BOTTOM (north side), Ughill

9/109 Barn and cowhouse approximately 15 metres to south-east of Ughill Manor.

GV II

Barn and cowhouse. Probably C17. Cruck-framed, coursed gritstone rubble, damaged stone slate roof. Single storey, 3 bays (internal) with aisled outshut to 2 right bays. Quoins. Cart entry to bay 1 has damaged board door, concrete lintel over. Outshut to right has quoined surrounds to 2 board doors, right door with flat-pointed lintel. Interior : 4 cruck pairs all rising from near ground, stylobate to cruck blade adjacent to aisle, right cruck embedded in end gable. Soffit mortices to wallplate spanning aisle. Most tie beams removed, some windbraces-to single purlins. Square-set ridge on saddle apex (except left truss which has crossing apex).
