Description
This barn, located approximately 30 metres to the east of number 15, is likely from the 17th century. It features a cruck frame made of coursed, hammer-dressed gritstone and has a stone slate roof that has been replaced by corrugated iron sheets at the rear. The barn consists of three bays, with the right bay serving as a cowhouse that includes a hayloft above and a front outshut. There is a cart entrance on the left with a wooden lintel and a square window opening to the right. A doorway is situated to the right of the outshut, featuring quoin reveals and a deep stone lintel.
Inside, there are two pairs of cruck beams that are now supported by an axial stone wall in the central bay. The cruck blades are set on padstones, and the structure includes wall tie beams and single purlins. One truss has an upper tie beam and a saddle at the apex, while the other truss features a crossing apex square set ridge. The roof over the cowhouse bay has been largely altered.
