Description

The entrance gate piers and attached walls at the East and West Lodges to Holme Hall were built in the mid-19th century. They are constructed from coursed limestone, featuring dressed sandstone copings and ashlar piers. A pair of gate piers stands on either side of the drive leading to Holme Hall, positioned between the East Lodge and West Lodge. Each lodge is complemented by attached quadrant walls that are approximately one metre high, which extend to line Holme Lane in front of the lodges.

The gate piers have chamfered plinths and sunken-panelled shafts with splayed inner returns. They are adorned with bands and ogee caps that support large ball finials. The walls feature round-edged triangular copings, while the left end has a simpler ball-finialled pier.
