SK 17 NE PARISH OF LITTON THE GREEN 1/61 (North Side) Scarsdale House Farmhouse and attached barn GV II

Farmhouse and barn. Dated 1723. Rubble limestone, the house cement rendered, with gritstone dressings and quoins. Welsh slate roof and stone coped gables with moulded and plain kneelers and ball finial. Two stone ridge stacks and a stone gable end stack. Two storeys. South elevation. Double fronted house with central doorway with moulded stone surround and date inscribed on the lintel WM 1723. Bracketed stone hood. C20 half glazed door. Flanked on each side by a window with stone surround and C19 casement lights, but probably originally with a mullion. Three similar windows above. Attached drystone garden wall with rounded copings. The interior has a standard C18 fireplace with bracketed stone lintel. Staircase with flat fretted balusters. Barn attached to east under a continuous roof. Irregular south elevation with a cart entrance and four partially blocked doorways with segmental heads. Three openings above with segmental heads.
