Description
The Clergy House, built in 1723, is constructed from coursed rubble limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. It features a stone slate roof with stone coped gables and moulded kneelers, along with a stone gable end and two stone ridge stacks that have stone bands. The house is two storeys high and has a south elevation with six bays. An off-centre doorway is framed by a moulded architrave and a boldly projecting pediment supported by brackets, leading to a 20th-century door. To the right of the doorway are two 2-light square section flush mullion windows, while there are four similar windows to the left and six above. All windows have diamond-headed lights. Above the door, there is a stone panel featuring a projecting moulded circle and the date WM 1723. The property is enclosed by a garden wall that stands about six feet high, made with quoins and flat copings. The gritstone gatepiers are square in plan and topped with plain entablatures.
