Description
Red Lion Cottages and Alstonfield Cottage are a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century. They are constructed of rubble limestone, rendered, with gritstone dressings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features a stone gable end stack as well as two stone ridge stacks. The cottages are two storeys high, with the south elevation consisting of four bays. The windows have plain stone surrounds, and the doorways also feature plain stone surrounds with bracketed hoods, arranged in a rhythm of ABABA. There are four similar windows above. The windows are fitted with 20th-century small pane top hung casements, and the doors are also from the 20th century.
