Description

Grove House is a house dating from the mid-19th century, located in the parish of Litton The Green. The house is constructed of coursed squared limestone with gritstone dressings and quoins. It has a Welsh slate roof with stone coped gables, moulded kneelers, and stone gable end stacks.

The south elevation is double-fronted. A central doorway has a chamfered stone surround, a four-centred arch, and a moulded bracketed hood with a crenellation motif. The doorway contains a mid-19th century panelled door. Flanking the doorway are large, three-light chamfered mullion windows. The windows have fixed and casement sections with margin lights, some containing coloured and etched glass. A chamfered first floor string course steps up over the doorway. Above, two similar windows with clear glass are positioned either side of a decorative diamond-shaped motif featuring a quatrefoil.

Attached to the south are coped garden walls, and a low front boundary wall is surmounted by iron railings. The building is listed for group value.
