Kennel Cottages Circa 300 Yards North Of Biddlestone Home Farm

Kennel Cottages, located approximately 300 yards north of Biddlestone Home Farm, were built in 1844. These two cottages are constructed from ashlar stone and feature a Welsh slate roof, designed in the Tudor style. The buildings are two storeys high and consist of three bays.

The cottages have rusticated quoins, a chamfered plinth, and a rusticated lower course of masonry. The central bay slightly projects and is cross-gabled, also featuring rusticated quoins. On the ground floor, there are three-light mullioned windows with diamond-paned sashes, which are set under hoodmoulds. Above, similar two-light windows are found, with those in the outer bays located in gabled half-dormers.

The central gable is adorned with kneelers, ridged coping, and an obelisk finial, while the gabled half-dormers have hat-shaped finials. The roof is hipped and includes two cross-axial tripartite octagonal ridge stacks.

On both sides of the cottages, there are doorways with moulded surrounds and hoodmoulds, each leading into corniced stone porches. The porch on the right is open and features a six-panelled inner door, while the porch on the left has a boarded door.

Inside, the cottages retain contemporary fireplaces, iron ranges, six-panelled doors, and shutters.
