Description

This building is a barn and cart lodge with a loft above, along with an attached byre to the west. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and has undergone some alterations. The structure is made of coursed squared stone with a herringbone pattern and features pantile roofs with stone coping and ridges.

The barn, which is from the late 18th to early 19th century, consists of five bays and includes a loft. The left section has been extended to the rear to create the cart lodge, which also has a loft. The byre, added on the right, has four bays. The openings of the barn and cart lodge feature tripartite lintels. The barn has two later board doors in openings that have been made lower by the addition of secondary stone lintels, along with two small loft openings on the left that have boarded shutters. The byre includes a plinth, a wide doorway, and an arched vent on the left. There is a chamfered eaves band and moulded kneelers.

At the rear, the cart lodge has two elliptical arches and two six-pane loft windows. On the left, stone steps lead up to a board door in the left return, above a kennel. The byre has two doorways. Inside, the cart lodge features a central square pier on a chamfered base that supports large-scantling beams.
