Description
Shepherds Close is a farmhouse dating from the mid to late 18th century and the 19th century, with some alterations. It is constructed from coursed squared stone with herringbone tooling, topped with a pantiled roof that has stone coping and ridges, along with stone stacks. The original 18th-century part of the house has three bays; the two bays on the left are two storeys high, while the bay on the right is one storey and features a through-passage. In the 19th century, an additional bay was added to the right, and the two right-hand bays were slightly raised in height. The 18th-century section has a plinth.
The entrance features a 20th-century part-glazed door in the third bay. The left bay has a four-pane side-sliding sash window with a three-pane overlight above it. The second bay has a 20th-century small-pane casement window beneath a tripartite lintel, and the fourth bay has a twelve-pane side-sliding sash window. On the first floor, there are four-pane side-sliding sash windows in the first and second bays, and a small four-pane sash window in the second bay. The eaves have a hollow-moulded band, and there are shaped kneelers. The end stacks are prominent, with the left end stack being shouldered and corniced.
At the rear, there is a blocked doorway opposite the front entrance, a small light under the eaves on the left section, and the right section features two three-light windows on each floor, all except the first-floor right window having small-pane glazing.
