Description
West Wood Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the late 18th century and has had later additions, with alterations and restoration occurring around 1989. The building is constructed from coursed squared stone with herringbone tooling and features a pantile roof with stone coping and stone stacks.
The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three bays, with a wing extending to the rear right. The entrance elevation includes a plinth, and the openings are characterized by long lintels with tall raised keystones. The windows were deepened in the late 20th century and have replacement sills. A central late 20th-century gabled porch with a keyed elliptical doorway conceals the original doorway. The outer bays feature small-pane sash windows arranged in a tripartite style. There is a cyma-moulded eaves band, shaped kneelers, and corniced end stacks.
At the rear, the wing has shaped kneelers, a shouldered corniced end stack, and an added outshut, which is not of special interest. Inside, the front range has moulded joists and floorboards.
