Description
The Holme Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse that may have been built in two phases, with the right bay being a rebuild of an earlier downhouse. It is constructed from roughly herringbone-tooled sandstone and features a pantiled roof with stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks. The building has a hearth-passage plan and stands two storeys high with three bays. There is a half-glazed door in the right bay, positioned in the through-passage, and another door between the two left bays. The windows are two-light casements with glazing bars and stone sills, with the ground floor windows being wider. The farmhouse has stepped and cornice-banded stacks in the main hearth position and at the left end, along with a long rear catslide. There is a pent, boarded rear extension that is not of special interest. Inside, the farmhouse features beamed ceilings, a cast-iron fireplace, and a dairy with stone slab shelves.
