Description

Stable Holme and the attached outbuildings are a farmhouse with flanking structures, built in the mid-18th century. The buildings are made of coursed herringbone-tooled sandstone and feature a pantiled roof with stone ridge, copings, kneelers, and stacks. The main house has a hearth-passage plan and stands two storeys tall with two windows, while the downhouse is lower with two storeys and one window. The outbuildings are mostly one storey, with the right side being higher. There is an upside-down four-panel passage door, and the windows are Yorkshire sashes, with the main house's windows being wider and set under extended lintels that have prominent keystones and stone cills. The downhouse has block kneelers that curve to the main house, suggesting possible partial rebuilding. Coped chimneys are located at the ends of the main house and the left end of the downhouse. The small left outbuilding range includes a boarded door and a lean-to privy. The stable or byre to the right has three stable doors. The rear elevation features a boarded passage door, Yorkshire sashes in the downhouse, and three inserted Yorkshire sashes on the first floor of the main house, as well as boarded and stable doors in the outbuildings.
