Description

BILSDALE MIDCABLE B 1257 SE 59 NE West side (off) 16/11 Stable Holme and 23/6/66 attached outbuildings II Farmhouse with flanking outbuildings, mid C18. Coursed herringbone- tooled sandstone; pantiled roof with stone ridge, copings, kneelers and stacks. Hearth-passage plan. Plinth. Main house 2 storeys, 2 windows; downhouse lower 2 storeys, 1 window. 1-storey outbuildings, the right higher. Upside-down 4-panel passage door. Yorkshire sashes, those in main house wider, under extended lintels with prominent keystones; stone cills. Block kneelers to downhouse, curved to main house (possible partial rebuilding?). Coped chimneys at ends of main house and left end of downhouse. Boarded door and lean-to privy in small left outbuilding range. Stable/byre to right has 3 stable doors. Rear elevation shows boarded passage door, Yorkshire sashes in downhouse, 3 inserted Yorkshire sashes in first floor of main house. Boarded and stable doors in outbuildings.
