Description

BILSDALE MIDCABLE B 1527 SE 59 SE East side (off) 18/5 Low Crosset and 23/6/66 attached outbuilding II Farmhouse and byre. Early C18 with main house rebuilt later in C18. Coursed squared herringbone-tooled sandstone; pantiled roofs with stone ridge, copings, kneelers and stacks. Hearth-passage plan. Main house 2 storeys, 2 bays; downhouse 2 lower storeys, 1 wide bay; byre 1 storey, 3 bays. Plinth. Half-glazed through-passage door at left of downhouse. Modern casements with stone cills and extended keyed lintels, that in downhouse continuous over door and window. Byre has 2 stable doors, the left flanked by small casements, and garage doors, under replaced concrete lintel, at right. Coped end chimneys to main house. Rear elevation shows modern casements and half-glazed door. Two small extensions, with stable doors, stepped down at parlour end. Interior shows stop-chamfered cross beam and joists in forehouse, also salt cupboard to right of later fireplace.
