Description
Hollin Bower is a farmhouse consisting of three sections built in the 18th century and early 19th century. The right part of the building features a plinth and unevenly-coursed sandstone, while the left part is made of pecked sandstone. The roofs are pantiled with stone ridges, copings, kneelers, and stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has two bays on the right and one bay on the left. There is a boarded door on the left with a small fixed light to the right, and above are two Yorkshire sash windows. The older left section is a single-storey, one-bay area with a modern casement window.
The rear elevation reveals that the one-storey part was originally a back kitchen, which has a door leading to a through passage in the main house. This section features modern casements and a modern bow window, with the first-floor window in the oldest part set under an extended keyed lintel. There are two Yorkshire sash windows on the right and a small fixed light to the left of the door. The chimneys are cornice-banded and located at the centre and ends of the building. Inside, the main house displays early 19th-century beams and boarded doors. The old kitchen retains a firebeam and joists, along with an earlier 19th-century bracketed stone fireplace that has been blocked in with a modern fireplace.
