Description
THORNTON DALE ELLERBURN ROAD SE 88 SE (north side) Ellerburn 10/97 High Paper Mill Farmhouse and attached outbuildings - II Paper mill, now farmhouse and outbuildings. Mid C18 with earlier origins and later alteration. Tooled sandstone and coursed sandstone rubble; pantile and corrugated iron roofs; brick stacks. Range of 2 low storeys and 4 bays to left with 2-storey, single window block and lean-to outbuilding to right. 4-panel door in quoined opening with tripartite keyed lintel in 2- storey block, with later inserted canted bay of three 12-pane sashes to right. 16-pane sash with timber lintel to first floor above. In lower range to left of door is a 3-light, large-pane horizontal sliding sash to ground floor and similar 2-light, small-pane window above, both with timber lintels. Further to left, a C20 half-glazed door and sliding door to outbuilding have a continuous lintel. Plank door with heavy, tooled lintel to end left with square pitching window above. Plank door to outbuilding and boarded pitching opening to end of range to right. Stepped eaves course, coped gables, shaped kneelers and end stacks to 2-storey block.
