Description
High Paper Mill Farmhouse and attached outbuildings is a paper mill that has been converted into a farmhouse and outbuildings. It dates from the mid-18th century but has earlier origins and has undergone later alterations. The building features tooled sandstone and coursed sandstone rubble, with roofs made of pantiles and corrugated iron, and brick stacks.
The structure consists of a range of two low storeys and four bays on the left, with a two-storey block on the right that has a single window and a lean-to outbuilding. The entrance features a four-panel door set in a quoined opening with a tripartite keyed lintel in the two-storey block. To the right of the entrance is a later inserted canted bay containing three 12-pane sash windows. Above, there is a 16-pane sash window with a timber lintel on the first floor.
In the lower range to the left of the door, there is a large three-light horizontal sliding sash window on the ground floor and a similar two-light small-pane window above, both with timber lintels. Further left, a 20th-century half-glazed door and a sliding door to the outbuilding have a continuous lintel. There is also a plank door with a heavy, tooled lintel at the end left, which has a square pitching window above. A plank door leads to the outbuilding, and there is a boarded pitching opening at the end of the range to the right. The building features a stepped eaves course, coped gables, shaped kneelers, and end stacks on the two-storey block.
