Independant Cottages

Independent Cottages in Beaulieu, Buckler's Hard, are two semi-detached cottages that have been combined into one. They date from the late 18th century and consist of two builds, with alterations made in the 19th century and restoration in the 20th century. The cottages are constructed of brick and topped with an old plain tile roof.

The larger cottage is two stories high, irregular in shape, with two main bays and an added bay, while the smaller cottage is a single story with an attic and has two bays, featuring a lean-to at one end. The larger cottage, located on the left, has undergone significant alterations. Its front features a central plank door with a side light. The left added bay and the right bay have three-light segmental-head casements. The eaves above the center bay have been raised, and a lower pitched roof has been added to fit two small two-light casements. There are stacks at either end of the original part.

To the right, the smaller cottage has an off-centre plank door, with two-light casements on either side and a two-light gabled dormer above. There are also stacks at either end, with the left stack shared with the other cottage. The right end has a lean-to. These cottages are included for their historical and group value.
