Description

A pair of semi-detached cottages, dating from the mid-19th century. The cottages are constructed of brick, with the first floor clad in tile hanging featuring bands of fishscale tiles, and have plain tile roofs with combed ridge tiles. The design is an H-plan, with a central, 1½-storey, 2-bay section featuring a pent-roofed verandah supported by four timber posts. Plank doors are located on the inner face of the crosswings, and 2-light casement windows are present in the central bays. Above, 2-light casement windows are set within gabled dormers, featuring bargeboards. The crosswings have 2-light casements set beneath cambered, raised arches constructed of red and blue bricks. The first floor of the crosswings is decorated with blue brick modillion. A further 2-light casement is found on the first floor. Cut bargeboards define the gables. Where the ridge meets the crosswing, a stack rises, featuring four square shafts joined by a decorative head. The cottages are listed for their group value.
