Description

North Lodge is an early 19th-century lodge of yellow brick with painted cement dressings and a slate roof. Originally situated on Bramshaw Hill, it served as a gatehouse and was later associated with Fountain Court, a Lutyens-style building constructed in the early 20th century when the original house was demolished.

The building is single-storied with a two-bay front and a three-bay side facing the drive. The right-hand bay on the front is recessed and has a roof carried on three timber posts, sheltering a 20th-century door and a two-light casement window. A two-light casement window is located in the left-hand bay. All openings have cement labels. The roof is hipped on all sides, meeting in a central valley, with return-ridge stacks having two-diamond shafts. On the drive side, the central bay is recessed, and each bay contains a two-light casement window with a label.
