Description
South Lodge is an early 19th-century lodge constructed of painted brick with cement dressings and a slate roof. It is a single-storey building featuring three bays facing the drive and two bays with a verandah all around. The front has a wall that is recessed under the roof, supported by four timber posts. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door topped by a rectangular fanlight. There are cross-windows on each side, each with a label above. The roof is hipped all around with a central valley, and there are stacks with two diamond shafts on the return ridges. This lodge was originally associated with Bramshaw Hill, which was demolished in the early 20th century and replaced by the Lutyens-style Fountains Court.
