Description

Blenmans Farmhouse is a late 16th-century farmhouse that has been altered in the 18th century and refronted around 1800. The building is timber-framed with brick infill, featuring a replacement and encased roof covered in old plain tiles with slate eaves. It is two storeys high and incorporates three bays plus a stack/passage bay. The front has an offset flint and rubble plinth. A 20th-century gabled timber and glazed porch sits to the left of the centre, set on brick plinth walls, and incorporates a half-glazed door. The windows are 20th-century, with diamond-leaded lights, but are set within openings created during the circa 1800 refronting. There are three-light casements in the left-hand bay and two-light casements in the right-hand bays; the ground-floor openings have segmental arches. The roof is half-hipped. A large ridge stack is positioned to the left of the centre, featuring three diamond shafts. An external stack is at the right-hand end, encompassed by a 1½-storey 19th-century addition. The timber frame is visible at each end and internally. Other features from the 18th century are present within the interior.
