Description

This milestone, located approximately 23 meters northeast of Penny Bridge, dates from around 1763 and was erected for the Kirkby Kendal to Kirkby Ireleth Turnpike Trust. It is made of stone and features a round-headed design, inscribed with the number 17, indicating the distance in miles from Kendal.
