Description

This milestone, located approximately 180 meters east of Lightwood, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It was erected for the Kirkby Kendal to Kirkby Ireleth Turnpike Trust. The stone is a round-headed post and is inscribed with "K/8," indicating the distance of 8 miles to Kendal.
