Description
Burblethwaite Hall is a farmhouse dating from 1714. It features roughcast stone walls and a slate roof, with two storeys and two bays. The ground floor windows are sashed with vertical glazing bars and horns, while the first floor windows are sashed with single glazing bars and horns. The central entrance has a round-arched hood with a slated gable and a six-panel door with a decorative handle. At the rear, there is a continuous outshut. The right return has dripcourses on both floors, and there is a datestone over the ground floor dripcourse on the left end, which has an arched head, egg-and-dart moulded frame, and foliate lettering that reads "BUILT BY/WRE/1714". The ground floor has casement windows, a sashed window on the first floor, and an attic light. The entrance features a two-panel door with an end opening. The left return has two shuttered attic lights and gable-end stacks. Inside, there are plank and muntin partitions on both the ground and first floors, along with two-panel doors. The dog-leg stair has wide steps, turned balusters (with some missing on the first flight), rectangular fluted newels, and a moulded handrail.
