Description
Scales Farmhouse and the adjoining barn date from the early 18th century. The farmhouse features cement roughcast walls with a string course, topped by a graduated greenslate roof and roughcast chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and consists of four bays, with a lower right-angled barn attached to the right. The entrance has a 20th-century door set in a bolection architrave beneath an open segmental pediment. The farmhouse has sash windows in painted stone surrounds, with the two windows above the entrance being narrow. The barn is constructed from similar materials but includes an extension made of mixed slate rubble. It has a plank door and a loft door in plain openings, while the barn extension features plank doors in stone surrounds and brick slit vents. At the back of the farmhouse, there is an outshut with 19th-century windows.
