Description

This is a barn located west of Dunthwaite, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed from coursed Skiddaw slate rubble, featuring flush calciferous sandstone quoins and dressings, topped with a graduated greenslate roof. The barn stands 2½ storeys high and consists of four bays. There are two segmental cart doorways, each flanked by doorways with quoined surrounds. In the center, there is a loft doorway surrounded by brick segmental arches that have blocked pigeon holes and slate ledges, all beneath small segmental-arched vents with latticework. At the rear, there is a bank entrance leading to a projecting cart doorway on the first floor.
