Description
The building is a former stable located behind Dunthwaite, dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of Skiddaw slate rubble, featuring flush calciferous sandstone quoins and dressings. The roof is made of graduated greenslate and includes a rendered chimney stack. The structure is 2½ storeys high and consists of three bays. There are external stone steps leading to a first-floor plank door, which is set in a quoined surround. The windows are lattice iron-grille types within stone surrounds. The right return wall has a brick segmental-arched carriage opening. At the rear, there is a lean-to garage or shed. A brick passageway that connects to the house is not of interest.
