Description
Iron railings, gate piers, and gates are located to the south of the Methodist and United Reformed Church in Buckfastleigh. These features date from around the 1860s and are made of cast iron and granite. The railings consist of round section verticals topped with spear finials, set on a granite plinth. There are two contemporary gates at the chapel entrance, which have finials above the middle and top rails, while a simpler gate leads to the steps down to the schoolroom entrance. The chapel entrance gates are hung from square gate piers that have moulded caps with pyramidal tops. These structures are included for their group value with the chapel.
