Description
The bee bole wall, dating from the mid-19th century, is located adjacent to No 1 (The Folly) on the north side of Gretton Road in Gotherington. The wall is constructed of coursed squared and dressed limestone and brick, measuring approximately 20 meters in length. It is linked to No 1 but is partly obscured by a 20th-century conservatory. The wall has been extended by about 2.5 meters at the west end to connect with a 20th-century garage and stands at a height of around 2.80 meters. There are ten original bee boles featuring brick dividing walls and timber lintels protected by raking planks, with brick walling above the bee boles. Additionally, there are three 20th-century bee boles located at the far left. The entire structure is now sheltered by a 20th-century lean-to with timber uprights and a cedar shingle roof.
