Description
Truman's Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century. It features close-studded and square-panelled timber framing with rendered or painted brick infill, although part of the building is now encased in brick. The jettied gable end has been weather-boarded, and there is a squared and dressed limestone extension. The main body of the house is rectangular in shape, with an extension at right angles that creates an 'L'-shaped overall plan. The roof is thatched and has decorative ridge thatching, with a brick stack rising from the structure, which is 1½ storeys tall.
The jettied gable end is supported by small moulded brackets and faces the lane. On the ground floor, there is a 19th-century two-light casement window, and a similar but 20th-century casement window in the jetty. There is also a five-light 20th-century bow window with a thatched roof, along with a 20th-century three-light casement and a single-light casement, all featuring leaded panes, located on the right-hand return. The stone-built extension has a 19th-century three-light casement window with a cambered head on the ground floor, and a two-light 19th-century casement above it. To the right, there is a 20th-century plank door under an open-sided lean-to porch. The building has a gable-end stack. The interior has not been inspected.
