Description

Pardon Hill Farm is a farmhouse that dates back to the 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed from coursed squared and dressed limestone, topped with a stone slate roof, and features ashlar and rendered stacks. The original 17th-century structure is rectangular, with an early 18th-century extension on the east side and a 19th-century extension that connects the house to a possible 17th-century external kitchen or bakehouse.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with an attic. On the east front, there are single light and 2 and 3-light stone-mullioned casements on the half-hipped gable end of the early 18th-century range. To the left, the 19th-century range features two tripartite sashes and a 2-light hipped roof dormer. The former external kitchen, which projects forward to the left, has a 3-light casement with glazing bars.

The north-facing gable end of the 17th-century range includes cellar access through a dressed opening with a keystone that once held a sash window above. There is also a stone-mullioned cross window on the first floor and a 2-light stone-mullioned casement in the attic. The west front is largely hidden by a 20th-century lean-to extension, and it features flat coping and gable-end stacks. The interior of the house has not been inspected, but the former external kitchen contains a large open fireplace with a crane and a bread oven.
