Description

Poplar Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century to the 20th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and has a slate roof. Originally, it probably had a two-unit plan but has since been modified to a double-depth layout. The building is two storeys high and features an entrance front with a two-window range and two gables above. The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with glazed toplights and a gauged stone head.

The windows are early 20th-century casements; those on the left are set under wood lintels, while those on the right are under concrete lintels. There are brick stacks at the ridge of the roof. The left elevation likely originates from the 17th century and has three windows, including a central three-light stone mullion window with leaded lights on the first floor and a similar four-light window on the ground floor. The early 19th-century sash windows on the left and right are irregularly spaced, featuring glazing bars and wood lintels. There is also a 17th-century doorway with a moulded stone surround on the right, which is currently blocked.

To the left, there is an early 20th-century one-unit, two-storey brick extension. The right elevation of the main front has one early 19th-century sash window with glazing bars. Inside, the central room contains spine beams and the remains of an open fireplace.
