Description

The Duchy Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse, with a datestone of 1633, and a 19th-century roof raise. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with a slate roof. Originally built on a 3-unit plan, the farmhouse now has a 5-window front. The windows are a mix of casements with wooden lintels and one sash window with glazing bars on the ground floor right, also under a wooden lintel. A 19th-century part-glazed door is situated to the left of the centre. Brick stacks are located at the ridge and end of the building. A rear extension was added in the 19th century. Inside, the farmhouse retains stop-chamfered spine beams and evidence of an open fireplace with a bressumer. The roof structure includes a partially visible raised cruck. The left gable has a partially legible datestone.
