8/207 Whistling Down Cottage II

Cottage. Early C18, altered C19. Shallow bedded coursed squared and dressed limestone; stone slate and slate roofing; C20 brick stacks. l½-2 storeys 'L'-shaped plan. West front with single- light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement with leaded panes; 12-pane sash with horns; 2-light C20 half-dormer with leaded panes. C19 three-light stone-mullioned casement to the ground floor of the north facing gable end; 2-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement above. Single-light window with round head cut out of a single stone block with leaded panes to the south facing gable end. Segmental-headed 4-pane sash with horns to the ground floor of the roadside front; two small 4-pane sashes to the upper floor; which appears to have been added in the C19; segmental-headed plank door lower left. Half-hipped gable end to the range at right angles to the road. Reputed to have once been used as a granary. Interior not inspected.
