Description
This early 19th-century inn, now a house and shop, stands on the south side of Gloucester Street in Winchcombe. It is constructed of fine ashlar with a single plinth and a mid-string course, topped by a concrete tile roof. The building has two storeys and originally featured three plus one windows. A large carriage opening is situated at the ground floor far left, set within a flat segmental arch with a keystone tied to the string course. A late 20th-century shop-front occupies the space to the left of the carriage entrance, alongside a plate glass sash window. To the right of the former blocked doorway is a six-pane sash window. At the first floor, there are three plus one plate glass windows. A back door has been added, and a wing at the rear has been significantly altered. There are three rebuilt brick ridge stacks. The building was part of the Unicorn Inn and was likely constructed at the same time as the adjoining No 4.
