Description
This listing describes a pair of gates, supporting standards, and flanking railings at the entrance to the drive leading to Postlip Hall, dating from the 18th century. Made of cast and wrought iron, the gates are wide and rise to a decorative center. They are flanked by heavy iron supporting standards that feature intricate wrought decoration. On either side of the gates, there are railings approximately 1.6 meters high, extending about 2 meters to the right and left. The verticals of the railings culminate in spear-head terminals, showcasing a fine example of the designer's craftsmanship in this medium. The road, which is now a minor side route, was part of the main Cheltenham to Stratford route until the mid-20th century, passing by the entrance to Postlip Hall.
