Description

A row of four houses, likely dating from the 18th century and modified in the 19th century, stand as a free-standing block with two deep, contiguous gabled wings projecting at the rear.

Number 1 is constructed of coursed rubble, set on a plinth, with a stone slate roof and a brick gable stack. It is two storeys high with an attic. The front elevation has a single window: a gabled dormer with a 2-light casement window above a 2-light stone chamfered mullion casement window, over a 2-light 19th-century casement with horizontal glazing bars. To the right of the windows is a 4-panel part-glazed door, sheltered by a stone lintel. A 2-light chamfered mullion casement window is located on the first floor of the return gable, and the wing extensions run to a coped gable.

Number 2 is constructed of limestone ashlar, set on a plinth, and has a concrete stone slate roof to a coped gable, along with a brick gable stack. It is two storeys high and features sashes with glazing bars. A 20th-century plank door is located on the left-hand side. Numbers 1 and 2 were originally built as a pair, but the front wall of Number 2 was subsequently rebuilt.

Numbers 3 and 4 are constructed of coursed rubble on a high plinth with a chamfered top, and have a stone slate roof with a coped gable on the right and a gable stack. They are two storeys high, each with a single window, featuring 19th-century 2-light casements in Number 3 and 20th-century 2-light steel casements in Number 4. The doors are grouped centrally between the windows: a 4-panel flush door in Number 3, and a 20th-century plank door in Number 4. The properties are included in the listing primarily for their group value.
