Description
Balloon House is an 18th-century house with a 19th-century facade, located on the north side of Gloucester Road in Winchcombe. The building is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a concrete tile mansard roof with a coved cornice and coped gables, which include a large stepped external stack on the left side. It has two storeys, an attic, and a part cellar on the right half. The front has two wide-spaced sash windows without bars, set under stopped chamfered heads and with stone cills. To the right, there is a 19th-century four-panel door in a sunk surround, topped with a stone hood supported by brackets, and accessed by four steps. A wide late 20th-century dormer is present on the roof. Inside, the house retains a large open fireplace and a stone flag floor on the left side.
