Description
Oxleaze House is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 18th century and was altered and enlarged in the 19th century, with possibly some earlier work. The building is constructed of squared, coursed stone and has a Welsh slate roof.
The garden front features three windows across its three-storey facade, and the rear, which now serves as the entrance front, is two-storey and part two rooms deep. On the garden front, the ground and first floors have mullioned windows with hoodmoulds. There is a plinth, a 3-light window on the right, and a half-glazed door beneath an openwork cast-iron porch with a tent sheet-metal hood. A former doorway has been converted into a 2-light window with a stone lintel and hoodmould. The first floor has two 3-light windows and one 2-light window, while the attics contain three 2-light casements. The building has parapet gables and four ridge chimneys.
The right return was rebuilt in the mid-20th century. Inside, the ground floor features heavy chamfers on the main ceiling beams, with exposed chamfered joists in the right two rooms, and wide stone fireplaces with timber lintels. In the right room, there is an ashlar semi-circular recess with a semi-circular head. Oxleaze House forms a group with two barns and a shelter shed nearby.
