Description
The barn and open-fronted store at Soundborough is dated and initialled H.H. 1817 on a stone plaque located towards the apex of the porch gable. It is constructed from limestone rubble and features a corrugated asbestos roof. The barn has a rectangular plan with projecting porches at the south end and an open-fronted store at the south gable end. An attached cottage is not of special interest. The barn includes a gabled porch on the east side, with lean-tos on either side and a lean-to extension at the gable end of the porch. The porch has a lean-to roof on the opposite side, which features a 2-light wood mullioned window to the right. There is also an owl hole in the right gable end. The open-fronted store is 1½ storeys high and has 3 bays, with stone piers between the bays and a single 2-light casement window on the upper floor. The barn has flat gable end coping and roll saddles. Inside, the barn consists of 4 bays with original roof trusses that include collar and tie beams.
