Description
St Michael's Cottage is a cottage dating from the mid 17th century to early 18th century. It features square-panelled timber framing with rendered and painted brick infill set on a limestone plinth, topped with a thatched roof that has decorative ridge thatching and a red brick chimney stack. The building has a rectangular plan with its gable end facing the road.
On the west front, there are two tall two-light wooden casements with horizontal glazing bars, and an eyebrow dormer in the upper right that retains early leaded panes on one side. A 19th-century plank door is located far left within a moulded heavy wooden frame, with a hall-light featuring leaded panes above. There is also a large 20th-century two-light steel casement with leaded panes on the gable end facing the road, and a 19th-century two-light casement with leaded panes near the north-east corner of the east gable end. An axial stack is present. The interior has not been inspected. There are 20th-century brick extensions that are not of special interest.
